Naomi Girma makes her first Chelsea start against Brighton in the WSL on Sunday after her record $1m January move.

However, fans have not been able to see her in WSL just yet due to a calf injury. That is now set to change as Chelsea take on Brighton and will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the WSL table.

Girma is understood to have taken the transfer record off Racheal Kundananji, who left Real Madrid for Bay FC for just under $1m last year. Keira Walsh's move to Chelsea from Barcelona in January was also the fourth-highest fee ever at over £550k.
Aged just 24, Girma has already played 44 matches for the US women's team, scoring twice. She featured heavily at the 2023 World Cup and played every minute as USA won Olympic gold in Paris last summer.
Chelsea are aiming to win their sixth consecutive WSL title, with signings like Girma only likely to improve their hopes. The Blues also face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals this month.
